The Askeran Kindergarten in Artsakh that opened in 2002 and was sponsored by the Armenian Missionary Associations of America and Canada provides education and care for 70 children.
In 2018, the kindergarten was officially renamed AMAA/AMAC Mr. & Mrs. Yeprem and Zabel Basmadjian Kindergarten, after a sizeable contribution was received from one of AMAC’s Founding Members and long time treasurer, Mr. Hagop Basmadjian of Montreal, in loving memory of his parents.
The renaming ceremony was held in the Armenian Missionary Association’s Kindergarten, with the participation of Mr. Harout Nercessian, AMAA’s Armenia representative, Mr. Kegham Peklaryan, Askeran Region’s Official representative, Mr. Garlen Mayilyan, Askeran Region’s Ministry of Education representative, Mr. Basmadjian, AMA Armenia office staff, the kindergarten’s teachers, parents, and friends.
The ceremony commenced with welcoming words by Anahid Danielyan, principal of the kindergarten. Greetings were delivered by Mr. Nercessian, Rev. Vartan Apinyan, minister of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Artsakh. Mr. Basmadjian expressed his satisfaction at having witnessed the great work carried out in the kindergarten, and Mr. Mayilyan expressed his gratitude and thanks for founding the kindergarten that would benefit future generations of the children of Artsakh.
The goal of the kindergarten is to enhance student performance by providing a well-organized and enthusiastic atmosphere for learning.
