After the 44-day Artsakh war, Azerbaijan occupied the lands adjacent to the Syunik Region of Armenia. This completely changed the situation in the region, especially in villages that found themselves bordering Azerbaijan.
On March 23-25, the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA), in cooperation with the Evangelical Church of Armenia, and the enlarged communities of Goris and Tegh, organized a series of events entitled “Keep Your Hope Bright” for the 750 children of Kornidzor, Tegh, Karashen, Khnatsakh, Vaghatur, Khoznavar, Karahunj, Vorotan, Shurnukh and Bardzravan villages.
The children laughed and were entertained by the clown and the good bear. They played games with them and watched an educational performance entitled “The four Candles”, that conveyed the message of keeping peace, love, faith and hope alive.
The event ended with a short message on real hope and a prayer offered by Rev. Sargis Ochinyan, Manager of the AMAA Goris office. All the children received gifts prepared by the First Armenian Evangelical Church of Montreal and sent by the Armenian Missionary Association of Canada (AMAC).
On behalf of the village children and the village leadership, AMAA Armenia thanks the donors for granting happiness and conveying the message of Christian hope to these children who are often overlooked by outsiders.
