Obituary
Betty Loussarian
In loving memory of Betty Loussarian, a devoted Armenian Christian woman, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend. Betty, a resident of Toronto, Canada, peacefully joined the Lord on November 7, 2023, at the age of 87, at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
Betty was born January 8, 1936, in Alexandria, Egypt, to Armenag and Yeranouhi Beylerian. Her childhood was filled with joy and laughter, growing up alongside her beloved brothers George (Alice) and Harry (Joy). After completing her college education, Betty embarked on her working journey with the Cahire Cotton Company. Her life took a significant turn when she met her son-to-be husband, Andy (Antibas) Loussarian, through the introduction of Rev. Soghomon Nuyujukian, who served as pastor to both Andy and Betty. In 1960, they were married, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey together. Their union brought the joy of parenthood as they welcomed their first son, Ed, in 1961. Shortly thereafter, the family relocated to England, where they celebrated the arrival of their second son, Paul, in 1964, residing there for seven years.
In 1967, their growing family embarked on a journey across the sea – boarding the Corinthian, bound for Montreal. Their desire was to reconnect with the Armenian community, family, and the newly established Armenian Evangelical Church in Toronto. Upon arrival, Betty dedicated herself to being a loving and full-time mother to her two sons. As the years passed, Betty’s parents joined them from Egypt, and Betty returned to the working world. Two of her most cherished roles were at Peoples Christian Academy and Compaq Computers, where she served as a secretary. Her role as the principal’s secretary at Peoples Christian Academy brought her immense joy and left a lasting impact on both staff and students, a legacy that endures to this day.
Betty and Andy were blessed with 63 years of a long, rewarding, and meaningful life together. Her unwavering devotion to her family and her extended church family was a shining aspect of her life. She actively engaged with the young adults, the choir, and the ladies’ auxiliary. She dedicated a large amount of her time to volunteering, alongside Andy, with the Armenian community at Fieldstone Commons, where she coordinated Armenian cultural programs and monthly meals. Betty lived a selfless life, marked by her deep devotion to Christ, a kind and gentle heart, and a perpetually radiant smile that touched the lives of many, young and old alike —a true reflection of the Holy Spirit within her. She will also be remembered for her incredible beauty, both inside and out, and those not to be forgotten beautiful blue eyes.
Betty is survived by her incredibly caring and loving husband, Andy. She is also survived by her devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Ed & Jody, Paul & Lisa, as well as her two cherished granddaughters, Avery & Maddie, and two affectionate nephews, Armen & Arlen Beylerian.
Betty’s legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
