This summer, the Armenian Missionary Association of Canada (AMAC) successfully demonstrated that learning can be fun and that play, laughter and adventure can be innovated into fountains of education and inspiration.

During the AMAC Summer 2023 Day camp, the participating children had thrilling experiences of riding the Time Machine back to the past. They met, learned from, and were inspired by four heroes who made a positive impact on the world.

The Time Machine returned the children to 2023, where they met and interacted with modern-day heroes who are striving to make the world a better place. The heroes opened up to the children about their backgrounds, difficulties, and choices, and revealed why and how they follow their dreams. The participants were fascinated by their stories and asked them clever and relevant questions about their journeys and accomplishments.

Most importantly, the children learned about the Greatest Hero of all. They were moved and inspired by Jesus’ selfless and saving love that brought hope to the hopeless, turned darkness into light and made the world a better place.

The children were denied all opportunities to get bored. They played games and created crafts that illustrated the lessons learned.

The program was a blast for the children. They couldn’t wait to get to the camp every morning and urged their parents to hurry up. They went home in the evening with curiosity for the next day’s mysteries.

The children went home enormously challenged to consider their future roles in making the world a better place. We see in them future heroes.

The AMAC is grateful to the leadership of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Montreal for allowing it to use its facilities for the Summer Day Camp.

The AMAC Board and its President, Raffi Shnorhokian, express their gratitude to the team of volunteers, led by Salpi Nercessian, who designed and executed this unique program. The AMAC recognizes and appreciates the immense effort and countless hours that Salpi devoted to creating and organizing the program that raised nearly $5,000 for the Armenian Evangelical Secondary School of Anjar.
